Privacy Policy

Sniffy ("we", "our", or "us") helps you track your pet's health and happiness. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at privacy@sniffapp.com.

1. Information we collect

Account information

• Your name, email address, and a securely hashed password when you sign up.
• Authentication tokens issued by our servers so you stay logged in.
• Subscription, trial, and AI-usage metadata needed to manage access to paid features, free trials, and daily usage limits.

Pet and activity data

• Pet profiles (name, species, breed, birth date, sex, weight, lifestyle details).
• Health logs, medications, appointments, diary entries, walks (including route points if you start a GPS walk), food inventory, budget entries, and routine completions.
• Photos you attach to health events or pet profiles.

Device information

• A device token if you enable push notifications.
• Basic diagnostic data (app version, OS) included with error reports.

We do not collect precise location data unless you actively start a walk. Route points are tied to that walk record and stored under your account only.

2. How we use your information

• Provide the service: store your pet's records so they sync across your devices, generate insights, and send reminders you've enabled.
• Operate AI features and enforce limits: process prompts and related pet records, apply plan-based or load-based limits, detect abuse, and keep the service reliable.
• Improve the app: aggregate, anonymous usage patterns help us prioritize features and fix bugs.
• Communicate: transactional emails (receipts, password resets) and push notifications you've opted into.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to train advertising profiles. We do not share pet records with third parties for marketing.

3. How your data is stored

• Structured data is stored in our PostgreSQL database hosted in secure, access-controlled infrastructure.
• Photos and documents are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage, encrypted at rest.
• Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel and audited.
• All network traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

4. AI features

If you use AI features (such as our chat assistant or health insights), relevant prompts, chat content, and pet records may be sent to our language-model providers to generate responses, moderate misuse, maintain service quality, and enforce usage limits. Our current primary AI provider is OpenAI. Depending on the provider and the configuration in use at the time, provider systems may retain or process submitted data in accordance with their own terms and policies.

We may also use your prompts, chat content, feedback, and related usage data to operate, debug, evaluate, and improve Sniffy — including improving AI features, prompts, safety filters, and product quality. Where we do this, we use the minimum data needed and apply access controls. We do not sell your data and we do not use your pet records for third-party advertising.

You can disable AI features in settings.

5. Sharing

We only share your information with:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf (database hosting, object storage, push notification delivery, AI providers). They are bound by contract to handle the data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
• Legal authorities if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users.

6. Your rights and choices

• Access: view your data inside the app at any time.
• Export: request a copy of your data by emailing privacy@sniffapp.com.
• Correction: edit any record in-app.
• Deletion: delete individual records in-app, or delete your entire account from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Account deletion is processed as a scheduled deletion request. Your account is marked for deletion, access may be limited or ended, and your data is permanently removed after the applicable deletion window. Encrypted backups are purged on a regular cycle and may persist for up to 30 days. If you prefer, you can also request deletion by emailing privacy@sniffapp.com.
• Notifications: opt in or out of push notifications at any time.

7. Children's data

Sniffy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International users

Sniffy is operated from Canada and stores or processes data in infrastructure that may be located in multiple regions. By using the app you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in Canada and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. We apply reasonable safeguards to your data regardless of where it is processed.

9. Changes to this policy

We'll post material changes to this page and update the "Last updated" date above. If the changes affect your rights, we'll notify you by email or in-app before they take effect.

10. Website analytics

Our marketing website at sniffyapp.com (this site, including the home page, privacy and terms pages, and contact page) uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic and product interest. Google Analytics is operated by Google LLC, which acts as a data processor for this information. We do not sell or share your activity for advertising.

What we collect on the website:

• Aggregate usage: page views, referrer, approximate location (country/region level — we enable IP anonymization so Google does not store your full IP), browser, device type, and the buttons/links you click.

Your choice. If you visit from the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, or Brazil, we ask before we load Google Analytics. Elsewhere, GA loads on page view. You can change your mind any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer, or by enabling Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser — those signals override everything else and we never load GA when they're set. To request deletion of any events tied to you, email privacy@sniffapp.com.

Cookies we set.

This section covers the marketing website only. The Sniffy mobile app does not use Google Analytics.
